MCMICHAEL ART GALLERY – MAY 23RD 2024
A visit to the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg was an enjoyable and interesting experience. A beautiful sunny day for the drive and time to appreciate the outdoor sculptures and various paths at the gallery. A delicious lunch in the gallery cafe followed by a tour through the world of Marcel Dzama‘s New Work: Ghosts of Canoe Lake and the highlights from the Norval Morrisseau’s indigenous collection. Our Docent (tour guide) was very informative with in-depth knowledge of both artist’s background and their gallery exhibits.

AJAX DOWNS
On Wednesday, May 29th, we enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Getaway Restaurant at the Ajax Casino followed by carefully studying the program and the “look” of the horses to pick the right combination of horses to finish in the winner’s circle. In between lunch and the races, a few of us tried our luck at the casino. Congrats to lucky winners! |
TORONTO ISLAND TOUR
On June 25, several members of our club went on a leisurely tour of Ward’s Island. The tour guides were two women who are long-term residents of the island. The group walked around homes, gardens and other buildings on the island and learned about what it is really like to live on an island with no stores and no cars. Lunch was at the Riviera Restaurant on the island. It was a great day! PHOTOS by Geri Sparkes, Marilyn Thaxter and Anne Smolarek |
